JMDB heads to New York Design Week to exhibit all of their latest products at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF). Famous among these pieces will be the Union Panorama benches, shipped directly from Hollywood, and used on the set of Columbia Pictures’ Men in Black III, premiering around the world next Friday, 25 May.

Jangir Maddadi Design Bureau is bringing its designs into the Fiction Hotel — an exhibition put on by director and world-famous architect Maurizio Favetta of KingSize Architects. Maddadi’s new pieces will be incorporated into the set of this virtual hotel, staged with forward-thinking momentum and cinemagraphic language at Via Tortona 26 Courtyard.
JMDB’s three brand-new pieces will all be absorbed into the fantastic simulated world that Mr. Favetta has created. Spectators will get to see The Droid, a retro-futuristic lamp born of our fascination with the future and our reverence for the past; Butler, the elegant fiberglass waste bin with impeccable functionality; the Compound Podie, a clever revision of the classic standing podium.
Also on view at the Fiction Hotel will be Maddadi’s well-known Union Family and Compound Collections.
There are some public spaces in this world that simply don’t offer enough greenery. With the Compound Grass, a plant and a bench are artfully melded into one unit. Architects and designers of places like town squares and rooftop bars now have a way to offer the public a design that offers both greenery and a spot where one can sit on freshly cut grass. Even the smallest details of Droid have been designed with the utmost importance on beauty and function. The feet of the lamp have been carved out and inlaid with cushioned leather paneling to eliminate any risk of floor scratching.
The Droid is now available in three materials: white coated steel, black coated steel, and a beautifully rustic oxidized steel.
This clever, infinitely functional piece was first born out of our Compound Collection as an elegant way to present informative materials or signage in museums in beautifully acquainted touring areas. Soon thereafter, the sleek and versatile black fiberglass stand was found to be perfect for giving speeches in gallery settings or openings and even function as a maître’d stand at restaurants. Easily transportable, the piece features gentle curvature and is finished at the top with a sloped plate. As with all JMDB creations, the possibilities for the Compound Podie are endless.

These materials cover such a wide range of distinct tones that designers can develop the mood of their space with ease.
As with all our Union Family benches clients have the option to integrate a flowerpot into one or more of the Union Bench spheres. The flowerpot offers a wide variety of flexibility, and can be used as a planter or even filled with ice and drinks at events and social functions. The possibilities are virtually endless.
We are now happy to offer our Compound Collection in concrete. With Compound Concrete there is no limits and thousands of possibilities. Since we believe that greenery is important for our public spaces we have made all four shapes of Compound Concrete available as flowerpots. It is now possible to combine and connect to each other in an organic, curving pattern that encourages innovation.
