Four separate, simple shapes of beautifully curved, refined forms are designed to fit cohesively together to allow virtually endless possibilities for seating arrangements.
The Collection is produced in four contemporary materials, Compound Concrete, Compound Foam, Compound Wood and Compound Yacht. Each one offering its own individual characteristics for creating a strong, aesthetically pleasing space. These materials cover such a wide range of distinct tones that designers can develop the mood of their space with ease.
As with all our Union Family benches clients have the option to integrate a flowerpot into one or more of the Union Bench spheres. The flowerpot offers a wide variety of flexibility, and can be used as a planter or even filled with ice and drinks at events and social functions. The possibilities are virtually endless.
We are now happy to offer our Compound Collection in concrete. With Compound Concrete there is no limits and thousands of possibilities. Since we believe that greenery is important for our public spaces we have made all four shapes of Compound Concrete available as flowerpots. It is now possible to combine and connect to each other in an organic, curving pattern that encourages innovation.
Since its release in October our new DROID lamp has already been making waves throughout Sweden, displaying at exhibitions in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Kalmar. Our space-inspired product, which employs the most recent in LED technology and whose every detail has been crafted only under designer Jangir Maddadi’s supervision, has shown great success in its Swedish tour and we look forward to presenting it on an international level.
DROID will be available for purchase during the first week of February.
Jangir Maddadi Design Bureau is about to launch a whole new product category: lighting. Together with Microsoft (part of the generation 7 project) we’re displaying our upcoming product – Droid – at Designgalleriet, Odengatan 21, Stockholm.
The exhibition will display not only one, but two upcoming products and will be available for the public from November 4th and onward. Don’t miss this opportunity to take part in viewing what lies ahead!
More information on Droid will be available shortly.
Today, we’re unveiling our new homepage. What we do best is to create products, and now we have the place to show them off properly. Each family of products has its own page, with detailed information such as the production process and choice of material. We’ve also made our brochures available for public download. The website should look just as beautiful on your computer as on your iPad. Have a look and let us know what you think!
Finally, we will henceforth set a higher pace of news so you don’t miss anything. In the coming weeks we will unveil our third major product, something we’re very excited about.
On the night of Thursday, January 20th in the beautiful Kalmar Castle, JMDB launched its brand-new Compound Collection to public eyes the very first time. The night was a complete success. One-hundred seventy guests, among whom was U.S. Ambassador Matthew Barzun, joined in celebrating the unveiling this most unique new bench collection by Jangir Maddadi.
Following speeches by Ambassador Barzun and the designer himself, Jangir Maddadi, guests viewed a film that employed brilliant 3D graphics to enlighten people of how the Compound Collection evolved from a single idea. After the unveiling, guests were utterly impressed by this new modular design of benches, constructed of four basic forms and in five high-quality materials. It is a collection that allows clients to create anything they want. No limits. No impossibilities.
The night was filled with high spirits as one thing became clear to all: JMDB’s new Compound Collection truly was Designed with Love.
The entire Compound Collection will be released on the market between March and April. Maddadi and Ambassador Barzun have been in serious discussions about expanding his design production to the U.S., namely New York City. With the new Compound Collection on the market, and the already successful Union Benches, a U.S. expansion is not far away!
Spaces are most comfortable when the furniture in them molds to your needs. The faster people can adapt to their surroundings, the faster the conversation sets in, and thinking and reflecting abound. Our new Compound Collection was created in the mind of designer Jangir Maddadi, who set out to create a seating product that encourages dynamics, innovation and opportunity. With this collection, a series of four modules and five separate materials to choose from, the product itself is easy and fun to re-shape and re-design at will. The interior changes with the needs of the people.
Encouraging innovation
The Compound Collection is an entirely new concept in furniture design. This unique bench system uses a modular design to build the room that the client envisions, in any variety of formation, size and color. Using four basic shapes, designers have absolutely no limits and every possibility to build the perfect seating arrangement for their project. Four high-quality, innovative materials are offered: coated foam; concrete; fiberglass with teak seats seats; and bendable wood with leather seats. The varying materials change the entire tone of the pieces: Compound Foam creates fun, playful bright colors and no sharp edges, whereas Compound Wood generates chic exclusivity. With a height of 37 cm and an average width of 75 cm, each of these seats is formed to connect to each other in an organic, curving pattern that encourages innovation.
Sustainable Compounds
Each of the five materials offered in the Compound Collection shows a keen awareness of the need for today’s designers to offer more ecologically-friendly public furniture: fiberglass is durable, low-maintenance and sustainable. Our leather is produced by a Swedish tanning plant developed specifically to reduce nitrogen emissions by 80%.
A bench that makes sense
Functionally, the Compound Collection speaks for itself. Its organic curvature testifies to its ability to seat many people at one time, while still allowing for a high degree of comfort in a public or private arena. The simple curving lines of each of the four forms meet at precise and bold angles but are made from materials that render them safe for all users. Each form flows into each other with exact congruity so that every work that is created from this collection has a unique aesthetic quality that always serves its desired purpose. This furniture can grow or shrink at your own will. And while these benches are designed for seating many people at one time, they occupy very little space, proving to be economical for the developer. The Compound Collection is, without a doubt, a new step in public furniture design.
The Arlanda Visitor Center at Stockholm’s Arlanda International Airport is a gateway into Sweden and is now housing our beautiful Union Panorama bench. The premier tourist office of Stockholm will get to experience first-hand the Union Panorama bench, the luxury furniture that seats up to 12 people yet occupies a width of only 90 centimeters. Finally, a real way to give visitors to Sweden 360 degrees of freedom.
