Jangir Maddadi: A Designer's Journey

Jangir Maddadi is a Kurdish-born, Swedish designer renowned for creating functional sculptures that balance form, function, and material. His journey began with a passion for drawing, evolving into a design career focused on crafting timeless products for public and private spaces since 2004.

Timeless Design

Jangir’s collection stems from his work on various interior projects, refined through use in everyday life. His design approach is rooted in a deep understanding of materials and processes, resulting in objects that combine strength, character, and timelessness.

Sustainability at the Core

Sustainability is central to Jangir’s design philosophy. He produces everything locally in southern Sweden, reducing transportation's carbon footprint and prioritizing environmentally friendly materials and processes. His designs are made to last for generations, ensuring their relevance and durability for years to come.

A passion for drawing

Jangir's passion for drawing began during his 13 years in an Iraqi refugee camp, where it served as a form of escape. This passion continues to influence his design work today. After moving to Sweden in 1993, he was inspired by the beauty of Scandinavian design and the work of Alvar Aalto, sparking his curiosity about the stories behind objects.

The essence of Scandinavian design

In 2004, Jangir’s design thesis focused on creating a collectible giveaway that symbolized Scandinavian design. Through extensive research and surveys, he gained insight into how Scandinavian design is perceived globally. This understanding continues to shape his design language.

A designer's approach

Influenced by Scandinavian design principles and multiculturalism, Jangir’s work is both functional and beautiful. From concept to production, each piece has a unique story, identity, and personality, reflecting his meticulous attention to detail.
